Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments in the case on March 5th. I am 90% certain Prop 8 will get squashed. It should never have been on the ballot in the first place.
You know what should really piss people off about this whole Prop 8 mess, besides the obvious matter of intolerance? All the money that was wasted, even during a poor economic time like this. If only people felt so strongly about causes like fighting HIV, hunger, Malaria. Think of all the lives that dirty money could have saved.
Check out this database that went public of donors for and against Prop 8.
While trolling through this list of donors who supported prop 8, I found a Mrs. Wilde from my hometown. She is a “Homemaker” from a small town, who donated $25,000 to support the ban on equal rights for human beings. Twenty-five THOUSAND dollars. That money would buy 2,500 mosquito nets. That money would provide thousands of people with clean drinking water. And that money would provide hundreds of kids with vaccines they need. And that’s just one donor. More than $83 million was donated to support or oppose the prop. I feel sick.
Some Prop 8 supporters filed a lawsuit to keep their names from going public on this list. The federal lawsuit was filed in January by the ballot measure’s sponsoring committee, Protect Marriage. The suit was rejected by honorable U.S. District Judge Morrison England. “If there ever needs to be sunshine on a particular issue, it’s a ballot measure.” The suit claims releasing the names has led to consumer boycotts and picketing. Well damn people! Don’t you get it? People don’t want to give their money and do business with, I hate to say it but, bigots.
Although the word bigot is harsh, it is what in my opinion these people are: intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices, especially one who regards or treats the members of a group with hatred and intolerance. That’s straight from Websters ya’ll.
I have a family member that does not support equal gay rights. And although, I still love that person, his views on this I despise. Its a hard thing to swallow. I hope someday he, and others, understand the signifigance of this.

I am proud you didn’t get your way. I was leaving the State & will leave the State the day you get your way & I’m sure you will, soon enough.. & I’m sure you’ll be glad that I’m gone. For the record… I’m not hateful & intolerant. I happen to be crazy about loving the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe it is wrong, sinful, to put a mans pecker in another mans bung hole. Period. And for the State to sanction that as equal to what God ordain from the beginning as a blessed union is so perverted that I don’t even have the words to express it. I love you & want you to be loved. You have rights.. Why do you have to be so intolerant of people who love Jesus?
I know Christians haven’t always behaved like they should. But when good people do nothing & sit around and allow sin to be glorified.. The end is near ! No pun intended.

Bart, I’m glad you acknowledge Christians have not always “behaved” as they should. That is definitely true. As it is true about a lot of groups in history. For example, our ancestors who owned slaves. I bring that up because, this country took years and years to realize how wrong we had been in treating people of color as unequal. I believe Prop 8 passing is taking the states back to those dreaded days of intolerance and lack of human decency.
What I want to know is why you are so enraged about who someone chooses to love? It has nothing to do with you, your Lord, God, the state, the devil or me. Don’t intrude on someone else’s right to happiness in this life. If you think they are sinners, fine, whatever. But stay out of it. No one is asking for your blessing. They don’t want it. They just want their rights.
Do you recall separation of church and state? How would you like it if we,non-religious people, tried to keep you from loving the Lord Jesus Christ? If we prevented you from your rights to praise your Lord? That is your right to love him, as it is any humans right to love who they choose.
Its 2009 Bart. Marriage isn’t always intended to be a blessed union. Sometimes people just fall in love and decide they want to grow old together. Athiests marry all the time, for love, commitment, tax cuts, a home to raise their kids in. This is not about religion.
And finally, you ask why must I be so intolerant of people who love Jesus? I’m not, I’m intolerant of people who lack human decency.

Nice reply Sam. Who is this Bart? Glad he isn’t in charge of my universe. Ignorance isn’t bliss when it can vote.
Hope he really looks inside and changes his mind.
I believe if Jesus were alive today he’d be on the opposite side of the issue and Bart wouldn’t have an argument.
P.S. Just so everyone out there is clear god did not right the bible nor did Jesus. I believe both would be more inclusive.

Jesus wouldn’t change his mind, mom, sorry. Christians do believe that God wrote the Bible in the sense that was inspired by Him. So thanks for clearing that up for the whole world. It’s real trendy to claim that Jesus was Mr. Inclusive, all the while forgetting every time he demanded Repentance.
Sam.. I wasn’t intruding.. I voted. We’ve been humming along now for 200 yrs. & now we’re all intruding on you? No.. You are intruding on God, Jesus, Church, common decency. And you turn it around & call everybody who doesn’t love Sin.. A hateful biggot.
It’s a great strategy.. But you never answered the sodomy question … Thanks
