Recent Supreme Court Ruling that supports lethal injection
The death penalty is barbaric. I have felt this way since the day I could have cognitive thoughts running through my little brain. How can we believe the human race is evolving when we can’t even control our maddening desire for revenge? Because that is what executions are all about. You all know that right? It does not deter crimes. It is NOT cheaper then lifetime imprisonment. There is no such thing as a humane method of killing. Its unethical, PERIOD.
Here’s an interesting thing to note, America is of the minority who still performs executions.
“Capital punishment was used in almost every part of the globe, but over the last few decades many countries have abolished it. Amnesty International classifies countries into four categories:
- 62 countries still maintain the death penalty in both law and practice.
- 92 countries have abolished it completely.
- 10 retain it, but only for crimes committed in exceptional circumstances (such as crimes committed in time of war).
- 33 countries maintain laws permitting the use of the death penalty for ordinary crimes, but have allowed the death penalty to fall into disuse for at least 10 years.
Who do we think we are to kill another human being? How does that teach anyone the rights and wrongs? Good and evil? Love and hate? I suppose I can only speak for myself, but I can’t imagine killing another will make that pain of losing a loved one go away. I can only believe the guilt would add more pain to a broken heart.
“I know something about killing. I don’t like killing. And I don’t think a state honors life by turning around and sanctioning killing. Now, that’s just a personal belief that I have.”
